You’re excited you don’t have to go to work today, because it is Thanksgiving Day. (If you’re lucky enough to work for an organization that is closed today, you get a chance to relax and enjoy time with family or maybe just bathe in some well-deserved “me-time”.)
Whatever your scenario, remember to take a moment to pause and give thanks for all the beauty and bounty in your life.
Often, we feel so rushed, so anxious, so busy we forget to look up and see how good life really is.
We take for granted all the skills and talents we possess.
We take for granted all of the people who help us each day achieve what we would not otherwise.
We take for granted those who supported us when things looked hopeless or so far away.
We even take for granted all the world provides including sunlight, warmth, water, food, shelter, and so much more.
Let us instead be grateful and thankful for all we have.
Take time today to call someone you’ve not seen in a while.
Tell them how you’ve missed them. Tell them how you love and appreciate them.
Take time today to call someone you’ve been mad at for far too long.
Tell them that you take responsibility for the long absence whether it is your fault or not.
Take time today to be kind to yourself.
Giving thanks and showing appreciation for yourself and others makes all the difference in how you approach mindset or meetings, beliefs or behaviors, conversations or confrontations.
Don’t let one more day or even one more minute pass you by without recognizing and appreciating someone special.
And if you think someone isn’t special, even if it is yourself, offer a compliment and see what happens.
